Senior Years
Year 10 Geography Excursion
On Friday 21st February, Year 10 Geography students attended their first excursion of the year.
The Coastal Management excursion allows students to investigate the nature of Adelaide’s changing coastline and the impact of longshore drift. Movement of sand along the coast, from Port Noarlunga to Outer Harbour, is contributing to a number of significant issues, including sand build up near marinas, and sand loss causing the beach width to narrow.
Throughout the day, students recorded wave measurements to determine the types of wave activity on the day, completed field sketches showing the build up of sand, and analysed the changing coastal environment – from residential, to commercial, to recreational. Using their field work results, students will prepare a report and digital map, outline the key issues observed, and will analyse the current management strategies being used.

Dance Nation Drama Excursion
The Adelaide Fringe festival has hit Adelaide yet again and we were able to a part of it by viewing Imara Savage’s adaption of Dance Nation. The show’s playwright is Clare Barron who won the Obie Award for Playwrighting, among other significant awards. The plot of the new production follows a dance school of thirteen-year-old girls discovering the world of competition, the expectations placed upon them and the challenges of developing into teenagers. The production was a wild ride consisting of drama, comedy and dance! The ensemble were so strong and the students who saw it all loved watching such professional and engaging actors.
The students who attended kept expressing their appreciation for the experience. Seeing shows such as Dance Nation is a valuable learning experience that inspires us to grow as actors. Shows as visually stunning as Dance Nation also broadening students’ knowledge on the various types of productions and design that can exist.
