Principal's News

Dear Parents and families,

On Monday 10 February the staff, students and a number of parents enjoyed the excitement of having Mike Larkan @MikeLarkan from Channel 10 News film a live weather segment for their news program. Students participated in various STEM activities during the segment and Mike interviewed a number of the children.  This was a fantastic opportunity for the staff and students to showcase the great things that are happening in the area of Science, Technology, Maths and Engineering at St Francis Xavier School.  Special thanks to all the parents who made the effort to bring their children back after school to be part of this exciting event.

Reconciliation

In a spirit of reconciliation, on 13 February 2008, former Prime MinisterKevin Rudd moved a motion of Apology to Australia's Indigenous Peoples, apologising for past laws, policies, and practices that devastated Australia's Aboriginal andTorres Strait Islander peoples—in particular members of the stolen generations.

This was the new parliament's first order of business, and Kevin Rudd became the firstAustralian Prime Minister to publicly apologise to the Stolen Generations on behalf of the Australian federal government.

We honour the Ancestors who carved their footprints in the sands of time and we thank them for the gift of their unique culture.

LET’S GO SFX SWIM TEAM!

Congratulations to the members of our SFX Swimming team who will be competing in next week’s District Swimming Carnival at the Northcote Aquatic and Recreation Centre next Wednesday 20 February.   Our squad, who trained together this morning at WaterMarc, should acquit themselves well by competing as good sports.

Please refer to Charlotte Hunter’s Sport News for more details.

Good luck Team SFX!

Parent Teacher Interviews

The Term One Parent Teacher Interviews are scheduled for:

Tuesday 26 February - Prep to Year Two

and

Wednesday 27 February - Year Three to Six.

They will be held between 12:30pm and 8:00pm. This is an opportunity for a confidential conversation between yourself and your child’s teacher. Children are not required at these initial meetings.

Shortly you will be receiving communication through CareMonkey inviting you to book a time online. It is essential for your profile to be set up in order for an interview time to be made.

I would encourage families with two or more children on one night to log on as early as possible to secure appointment times close to each other. Please leave at least a 10 min gap between meetings, allowing for delays and providing time to get from one appointment to another.

Best wishes for a lovely weekend,

Nicholas Boyhan
