A Rock in Time
“A Rock In Time” Visits Melbourne Museum
On the 29th of May, 30 “A Rock In Time” students, Ms. Waser, Mrs. Amadei and Brenda travelled to the Melbourne Museum. The purpose of the excursion was to explore the thousands of rock samples and fossils housed at the Museum – and of course to see the DINOSAURS. The two classes were broken up and worked their way through Rocks and explored how they were formed. Students were asked to create short videos to “show what they know”. Next, students travelled 600 million years into the past, looking at fossils and witnessing the evolution of life and the changes due to mass extinctions. The “Dinosaur Walk” saw students identify some different features of dinosaurs, particularly those of carnivorous therapods. Despite being a long, cold day, the excursion was enjoyed by all.
