Masterclass

Masterclass

For the last couple of years our Year 9/10 students (Hey class) have had the opportunity to participate in the Bible Society Masterclass.  Last year we joined the live stream of the Sydney event.  This year, we took the plunge and attended the Melbourne event.

Living out the Christian faith in today’s world is not always easy for our young people. In a world of selfies, identity politics and ‘fake news’, Bible Society’s Masterclass aims to inspire, challenge and equip Christian students by tackling the big questions: Does the Christian faith make sense? What does the Bible have to say about issues in our world? And what does it mean to live a bold Christian life that makes a real difference?

This year's speakers were Mark Stephens and Simon Smart from the Centre for Public Christianity as well as Stephanie Judd from City on a Hill church.

Mark Stephens gave a great talk on why we can trust the historical accuracy of the Gospels and the New Testament.  Simon Smart spoke about the power and beauty of the Christian Worldview and Stephanie Judd explained how understanding that we are known, secure and loved by God can make all the difference in an uncertain world.  It was a great event and we're glad we made the trip.

Apart from Masterclass we also stepped out in the city to watch the stage musical adaptation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.  Brilliant!   We also visited Monash University where we were inspired by a fantastic presentation as well as a tour of their fantastic facilities.  Before heading home we stopped off for a little fun in the city at a virtual reality video game experience.
