Book Week Celebrations!

During the recent book week celebrations our favourite book characters seemed to step out of the page and into the real world. Students came dressed in elaborate, quirky costumes of their favourite book characters. There was a giraffe, an echidna, Alice in Wonderland, Tintin, Mary Poppins, a scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz, and even a dot whose pages got turned throughout the day! We also had a couple of families come dressed in some group themed costumes.

In the ABCs/Aleph category the prize for the best dressed went to Emmie Scholar, who dressed as an amazing Alice in Wonderland.  Runner up was Lucy Tresize as Lucy from The Chronicles of Narnia.

Running with the Alice in Wonderland theme, the winner of the Bet/Gimmel category was James Murphy, dressed as The Mad Hatter.

In Secondary the winner was Evie Tresize, dressed as Susan from The Chronicles of Narnia.  The Runner Up was Brianna, dressed as Effie from The Hunger Games.

The teacher’s section was so hard to judge.  They had two winners - Mr. Joel, dressed as the prophet Joel from the Bible and Mrs. Tresize, dressed as Jadis from The Chronicles of Narnia.  Mrs Vaughan was the Runner Up dressed as Mary Poppins.

Many thanks to our judges on the day - Dr Tim, Ms Heintze, & Mrs Vea.  And thanks to the House Captains who judged the teacher section.

All in all it was a great day, with money raised going towards getting books for the school library, which kids can borrow from right now!
