Stephanie Alexander Kitchen
The summer season has seen an abundance of lovely produce from the garden, in particular, tomatoes, zucchini and aromatic herbs. To compliment this produce we have created the first of our “Foods Around the World" menus, and have been on a visit to Greece! I know some the students have come home buzzing about this, as we will 'visit' a new country with each session in the Stephanie Alexander kitchen.
Our Summer Greek menu has consisted of:
We’ve even managed to harvest some lovely pears and some classes created pear crumble muffins.
Our Year 3 students have just begun their journey in the kitchen and started the year making only the Greek salad. The Year 4 students created the Greek salad and zucchini fritters, and finally the entire menu was created by the Year 5 and 6 students.
The menu was well received by the students, and surprisingly very easy to make. Some of the children were asked to write a brief paragraph on their kitchen session, here is what one class had to say:
“Today we visited Greece. We made an extraordinary Greek salad, a mouth-watering dish of Pear crumble muffins, a dazzling dip of Tzatziki and delightful Fritters. We couldn’t have done it without the helpful parent helpers, and the amazing teachers Sonia and Mrs Rossiter!”
