Dear Parents

Our Assembly today was a wonderful celebration of learning. Firstly, the 3B students under the guidance of Mr Fromm, confidently shared their knowledge of poetry in creative ways. In addition to this, was a beautiful performance by the Wanju Voices of a song called 'Fill Your Life with Music'. This was a great opportunity for the choir to share their joy of singing and showcase the skills they have developed with Mrs Haydon. Well done to all involved!

The Junior Primary Athletics Carnival was a great success on Thursday. We were greeted with perfect weather and a tremendous turnout of parents and grandparents to cheer the students along.

All the children should be very proud of their efforts. While there were some standout performances, it was clear that every student was trying their very best. There were also many acts of great sportsmanship, with students shaking each other’s hands after events and patting each other on the back.

We are always very proud of student effort and achievement, however even more importantly, we celebrate our children’s growing understanding of what it means to be part of a team; of representing their House by showing good sportsmanship; being gracious in defeat and by celebrating the success of others.

A sincere thank you to Mr Williams for coordinating this wonderful event, all staff for their hard work on the day and to all families who were able to attend.

Christmas Appeal

Every year, the St Vincent De Paul society run a Christmas appeal to assist families in need during the festive season.

We are hoping the John XXIII community can contribute by providing hamper items for these families. Each year level has been allocated specific items to collect, please refer to the link below for year group allocations.

Monday 11 November to Wednesday 27 November.

2020 Booklist Information

Booklist orders for Year 1 to Year 4 will follow a new bulk order system in 2020. This system will enable students to have everything they need for the first day and ensure all students have the same equipment as their classmates.

Our new Booklist provider for 2020 is Ziggies Educational Supplies.

How does the Bulk Order system work?

Teachers complete a bulk order list for their year level that will provide all the equipment each student will need for the year. For instance, if a student fills an exercise book then a new book will be provided. Parents will not need to purchase any extra stationery. The only time parents will be required to buy supplies will be if their child intentionally damages any equipment or regularly misplaces supplies.

How does this help children and teachers?

Firstly, every student will have exactly the same materials. Students will not feel left out if they do not have the correct materials or the latest trendy pencil case etc. Teachers are guaranteed that every book and stationery item is correct and it will be available in class for the first day of 2020.

This bulk order option will also be a more cost-effective option for parents, as well as, offering an easier method for teachers to organise resources ahead of time.

It is important to note that this Bulk Order cost will be added to the 2020 School Fees.

Booklists in Years 5 and 6

Our original process will continue for Year 5 and 6 with booklists orders being completed and payment being made directly to Ziggies Educational Supplies.

Sport Update

What a fantastic day full of colour, smiles and cheering! It was so wonderful to see all the Kindy, Pre-Primary, Year 1 and Year 2 children trying their very best, participating in the Carnival. There were lots of events for the students to partake in, including sprints, hurdles, a distance race and team games and I think it’s safe to say there were a lot of exhausted children by the end of the day!

A special thank you to all the staff, Year 6 House Captains and to all the parents who took part in a race.

Car Park Courtesy

The final Year 12 examinations will continue until Friday 15 November. They are held in the Thomas More Exhibition Centre from 9:00am to 12:10pm and from 2:00pm to 5:10pm.

As such the College community are asked to be mindful of the noise in the TMEC car park, including tooting horns, car doors slamming and 'calling out'. It is a great opportunity to demonstrate our support of the graduating students through our actions in the car park.
