Assistant Principal News

Dear Parents, Carers, Students, Friends and Colleagues,

Many of you may now be aware that I have accepted the role of Co-Assistant Principal at Saint Francis De Sales Regional College in my hometown of Leeton, commencing in 2019. Upon reflecting on my three amazing and memorable years with this wonderful school community, it is with mixed feelings that I write my last newsletter items as the Assistant Principal of Marian Catholic College.

I feel extremely blessed for the opportunities I have experienced during my roles of HSIE KLA Leader of Learning and Assistant Principal, and I will always be indebted to our Principal, Mr Alan Le Brocque for providing me with these opportunities that have given me much joy and happiness during my time at the College. I am very grateful to all the staff, parents and carers of the Marian community who have given me an abundance of support, care, love and friendship over my three- year journey at the College. This I feel has enabled me to complete each responsibility to the best of abilities, and my hope is that my work and interactions with the stakeholders of our school community has made a positive impact for your children.

Thank you to all our students for being great young people, for you are the reason I love the vocation of teaching and have enjoyed coming to Marian Catholic College every day for the past three years. I would like to provide you with some insights and reminders that I feel will serve you well during your future endeavours:

  • Your test scores and examination results do not define your future success in life;
  • Find out what you are good at, and go after it, if it is what you wish for your life;
  • Anything that is worthwhile takes hard work and small successful steps as this encourages personal growth – when you feel this, acknowledge that you are growing, and then take the next step forward;
  • When making personal goals, decide how you want to feel, and then do the things that make you feel that way to achieve your wishes and dreams;
  • Do not be mediocre – be clear of your purpose in anything you wish to accomplish and do not compromise;
  • If you make a mistake, own it, learn from it, and move forward;
  • If you fail, understand that failure is not bad, as long as you have learned from the experience and you keep moving forward;
  • Be kind to others always. You may think that acts of kindness do not matter – they do;
  • Ask for help when you need it. Most people would want to see you succeed. Ask for help and then graciously accept what they offer;
  • Be grateful everyday, even if it is a really bad day, find something to be grateful about;

Thank you to the whole Marian Community for enabling me to enjoy and appreciate the journey. Wishing you all a happy and holy Christmas with your families and friends, and all the best for a safe and prosperous new year. It’s not goodbye, it’s see you later.

Mrs Tonetta Iannelli
