Netball Club

Welcome back, I hope you all had a restful break.

There are only five weeks left of the season for our NetSetGo Teams, and six weeks of the regular season for all other teams. Finals begin on the 7 September for Years 7 - 12 & Alumni.

Code of Conduct

As the season intensifies into finals time I would like to remind all parents, players and spectators of the Code of Conduct that you have agreed to. All comments should be positive and encouraging of good play. There is not to be any coaching from parents on the sideline. Refrain from any comments of the umpiring.

A coach’s and umpire's decision is final. There is no excuse for back-chatting or arguing with a coach or an umpire. Coaches and Umpires at John XXIII Netball Club are an invaluable asset to our Club and your team, without them our Club doesn’t function. You may not always agree with their decisions but at the end of the day their decision is final. Please talk to your daughters about respecting their coaches and thank them for the time and effort they put in to coaching your team.

Singapore

Over the holidays 14 players from Years 10 & 11 went to Singapore for some friendly competition. Over the course of six days we played against St Andrews Jesuit College, Eunoia Catholic College, Singapore Sports School, Chinese Girls School, Singapore Netball Academy and SportsReady Netball Academy. The girls did very well playing at a variety of venues including OCBC Arena and Kallang Netball Centre. It was a mixture of indoor and outdoor games in the Singapore summer. Most of the games went our way, a couple were very close, but our second game on Sunday in the heat, with two defenders down was brutal. The girls played their absolute best and gave it everything they had to the very end and we are incredibly proud of them. There was also a great training session with Coach Mel from SportsReady where the girls learned some new techniques and drills.

In between all of the games we managed to fit in a few fun activities including Singapore Night Safari, Sentosa Island, Adventure Cove Waterpark, Gardens by the Bay & The Jewel at Changi Airport, with a bit of shopping thrown in.

A huge thank you to Jacinta Smith and Ms Power for their support and help.

Good luck to all teams for the rest of the season. Remember “Never give up! Failure and rejection are only the first steps to succeeding.” Jim Valvano.

Yours in Netball
