Interhouse Athletics Carnival
A reminder that our the 2019 Interhouse Athletics Carnival will be held on Friday 2 August at the State Athletics Centre. Nominations for these events are underway through the school House Coordinators and Homeroom teachers. We are praying for lovely weather.
Athletics training started up again this week with our specialist coaches. It was very impressive to see such strong numbers at training after the holiday break. Training will run every Tuesday and Thursday from 7:00-8:00am up until the ACC B Division Carnival on Thursday 19 September. Selection in the Interschool Athletics team is based on student performance at the House Athletics Carnival and training performance. Training is open to all students wanting to improve their skills in the athletics events below:
- Throws (javelin, discus and shot put)
- Jumps (high jump, long jump and triple jump)
- Sprints (100m, 200m, 400m)
- Long Distance (800m and 1500m)
- Hurdles
Northern Associated Schools (NAS) Sport
Our NAS Senior Girls Netball Team were our only team to progress into the Round of 16 play offs. Our girls played their game against Mercy College on Wednesday 24 July at the State Netball Centre. They played incredibly well and were victorious against Mercy College with a score of 47-23. This team will now progress into the Quarter Finals. We wish them the best of luck.
