Around The Primary

Dear Parents

Welcome back to Term 3!

It has been a delight to see the students and hear their happy voices filling the classrooms and playground once again. We have had a great start to the term, with our usual action-packed pace. Staff have been busy preparing the learning program for term 3. We started the new term with our annual Staff Conference and the staff are looking forward to another wonderful term of teaching and learning.

I hope the school holidays have given your children time to rest, relax and have some fun but now is the time to support them to get back into the swing of a good school routine. Some important reminders:

  • Please make sure your children are eating breakfast, sleeping well and have healthy food choices in their lunch boxes.
  • It is important that students arrive on time to each day. Classrooms will open at 8.35am for children to get organised for the day ahead.
  • It is also essential that children are wearing the correct school uniform and have a neat and tidy hairstyle.

Later in the term we will get to view the Year 4 production, ‘Dogs! The Musical’. Under the expert direction of Mrs Cattapan and Mrs Haydon, the Year 4’s are busy rehearsing their lines, learning songs and practising dance routines.  Further details to follow.

Over the next few weeks many students will be also be participating in the Catholic Schools Performing Arts Festival. The festival incorporates students from Catholic schools around the state. Many students will represent the school in the Choral (School Choir) and in the Liturgical sections of the festival.  It is a time of great excitement for our budding musicians as they will share their hard work and talent, through voice or upon dedicated instruments, with the wider community.

In addition to this we have a number of sporting events this term. The students have been training hard for our Years 3-6 Interhouse Cross Country Carnival scheduled for Tuesday 30 July. The Carnival begins at 12.10pm and we hope many parents and grandparents can come along and cheer on our enthusiastic runners.

Year 3G are preparing our first Assembly for the term. Everyone is welcome to join us on Friday 2 August at 9am in Roncalli Hall.

Please check the College Website for Term 3 to note all the important Primary school events for your family calendar. http://www.johnxxiii.edu.au/view/for-parents/calendars

At the end of last term, Semester One reports for Pre-Primary to Year 6 students were made available through the College’s online communication platform SEQTA. Hopefully all parents have had the opportunity to discuss the reports with their children and affirmed them for their efforts, as well as, looked for areas of development and improvement over the next six months. It is important that teachers and parents work together to ensure the best outcomes for the students at our school. As we begin a new semester, let’s all continue to encourage the children to work hard and apply themselves to achieve their personal best.

Kind regards,
