Spring Dinner

The fabulous Spring Dinner is the next event on the social calendar and is our major fundraiser for the year.

As announced in the last newsletter the Dinner will be held on Thursday 8 September in the senior school library.

This year's theme of Enter the Dragon  will take you on an Asian-inspired food journey as the library transforms into a vibrant hawker-style market. The cost of $120 per person covers a banquet-style feast which includes wine and beer. Payment can be made through either office in several ways:

Silent Auction

at Spring Dinner

Our annual Silent Auction which accompanies our Spring Dinner is not only a major fundraising success but also adds a fun component to the evening.  It provides browsing and shopping opportunities as well as friendly competition while vying for the wonderful items donated by our members and community.

Here's how you can help

1. Donate an item or ask a retailer for a donation

We would welcome donations of merchandise, gift certificates or services which could form items for the silent auction and make this a sensational event.   Here are some items that have been enjoyed in past years and remain very popular:

  • Vouchers for cafes, restaurants, bookstores, butchers, pharmacies, itunes, hair salons or day spas
  • Food and wine donations to form hampers
  • Lessons for music, golf, tennis, dance, yoga, cooking or pilates
  • Memberships for sporting clubs or gyms
  • Fashion items and jewellery
  • Beauty and hair products
  • Homewares and appliances
  • Kids parties and activities
  • Memorabilia, artwork and photography
  • Perhaps you have a holiday house and could donate a weekend away

Please let Nerel know which retailers you intend to canvas in your local area.  She will provide you with a letter from the school and also co-ordinate parents to ensure no-one is approached twice.

2. Volunteer your professional service or seek a donation

We would welcome vouchers from service providers including home repairer, interior designer, architect, health-masseuse, financial planner, personal trainer, legal, computer or landscape designer.

3. Ask friends or family for a donation

Perhaps you know someone who might want to increase their reach or a business that is always keen to help local fundraising events.  Maybe you have a friend who has a skill or passion that can be put to good use.  Please let them know we are seeking items for our silent auction.

If you are able to assist in anyway, please make contact with Nerel Ezra, nerel.ezra@preshil.vic.edu.au or 0410 324 191.

Primary Aged Drama Classes

Paul O'Leary, our amazingly talented 6/7s teacher, together with the established and independent drama school, "Drama with a Difference", are pleased to announce the commencement of Primary Aged Drama Classes on Wednesday afternoons from 4-5.30pm at The Blackbox theatre at the Secondary School.  Students from Preshil will be walked over to Blackhall by Paul.  Preshil families also enjoy a 50% discount on drama class term fees.  The first drama class commenced last week but it is not too late to join.

Car Pool

Many families travel great distances to bring their children to our wonderful school. It is the diversity within our community that makes Preshil unique and vibrant.

As a result of a parent request, we are seeking to facilitate a car pooling roster from Ivanhoe, with the intention of it starting as soon as possible.  To become involved, please express interest to Nerel (nerel.ezra@preshil.vic.edu.au) who will then put families in contact with each other.
