Next Wednesday sees Learmonth present the first House Service for 2020. The Service will commence at 10.00 am in the Uniting Church. All parents are most welcome to attend. Students are required to be in full summer uniform for the Service. This includes blazers and ties for boys.

Year Five Cape Bridgewater Camp

Last week, 29 Year Five students and four Junior School staff ventured to Cape Bridgewater for a three-day camp. The students surfed, bushwalked, caved, canoed and rafted their way around this beautiful part of Victoria. The Junior School staff were most impressed with the Year Fives. Throughout the three days, many displayed the College values of respect, resilience, gratitude, optimism and compassion.  Ms. See, Mrs. Robertson and Mr. Lewis are to be commended for their efforts in supporting the group and the ‘have-a-go’ attitude they modelled.  We will present two ‘Camp Brownlow’ medals at our Week Nine Assembly.

Amazing Parents and Friends

At our recent House Swimming and Athletics, the College Parents and Friends ran stalls selling sausage sandwiches, drinks, cakes, slices and icy poles. They raised $1114.05 for the ‘Burrumbuttock Hayrunners’- a fabulous cause. Well done Megan Mould and your hard-working team.

Today was the Hamilton District Sports Association Athletics Carnival.  College athletes competed in brand new College athletic tops, donated to the Junior School by the Parents and Friends. The students looked amazing in their new attire. Thank you, Parents and Friends, for your continued support - much appreciated.

Year Six Transition Program

On Tuesday I visited the Senior Campus to hand out Division 4 hockey notes to Year 7 students.  It was wonderful to touch base with our Myrniong Year Six students of 2019 in their new surrounds. They were polite, happy, enthused and most of all well transitioned to life in the bigger Senior Campus. I left feeling our Year Six program, and in particular the transition program run by Ms. Sophie Ross, Mr. Nick Palmer, Mrs Julia Winter-Cooke, Mr. Ben Hiscock, Mr. Ben Singh and Mrs Matilda McGoon, really worked.  Moving Year Six back to Myrniong was a big decision.  On the evidence of the last 12 months, I feel it was the right decision.

Year Three/Four IPSHA Choral Festival - August 2020

We received word on Tuesday from the IPSHA Choral Chairperson, Allison Prandolini that the IPSHA Choral Festival  (August 12th-14th) has been cancelled.  The follow email details information relating to the cancellation.

‘We are writing to you to inform you that we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 IPSHA Choral Festival.  The current climate in Australia is uncertain in terms of major events, and the risk management process undertaken by the Executive, identified many elements which were not able to be mitigated.  Whilst we understand that this will be disappointing for many schools, we believe at this moment, this is the best decision for our organisation.  We would like to thank the committee for their work on the 2020 Choral Festival.

‘In planning for future Choral Festivals, a team will be created to review the current format of the IPSHA Choral Festival and a feasibility study for future festivals will be undertaken.’
