Teaching and Learning Tune Up

The Hamilton and Alexandra College is proud to be a part of the Microsoft Tune Up 2020 program. A series of workshops and events in Melbourne this semester have given the College’s leadership team, IT specialists, learning support team and tech team the opportunity to consider the very best ways that we can use the suite of tools offered by Microsoft to enhance the learning of every student.

As the Tune Up Team from Senior and Junior School – Dr Andrew Hirst, Susan Bradbeer, Stephen Nelson, Peter Steer, Simone Brabham, Ian Cook, Mitchell Clode, Margaret Simkin, Valetta Bolton and Anna Robertson – prepare to share new learning and reflect on what tools we will promote and integrate into our College learning space, one thing is clear: Microsoft Education offers our teachers, students and parents/guardians a connected, collaborative and dynamic learning future. Microsoft Education offers opportunity to improve communication and access the right tools for their learning needs. I encourage parents to explore some of the tools (see below) that can be accessed via word online, Edge and Class OneNote. At College we are committed to differentiating for students’ needs in the classroom and provide meaningful, transformative education.

NCCD – National Consistent Collection of Data in schools

This is a notification for families regarding the government requirements for the NCCD. The Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD) takes place every year. The NCCD is a collection that counts the number of school students receiving an adjustment or ‘help’ due to disability and the level of adjustment they are receiving to access education on the same basis as other students. All schools in Australia must collect information about students with disability. The NCCD ensures that the information collected is transparent, consistent and reliable. It provides better information that improves understanding of students with disability and allows parents, guardians, carers, teachers, principals, education authorities and government to better support students with disability.

For more information please read the attached document: 2020 NCCD Fact sheet for Parents, Guardians and Carers.

If you would like to discuss your child’s learning needs, please make contact with our specialist learning support staff, Fran Agar and Valetta Bolton.
