Morning Routine

We will be continuing with Independence Day every Wednesday morning, it has also been wonderful to see the children independently completing their morning routines on other days also. It has been positive to see the children taking responsibility for their own belongings and being organised and ready to start the school day. Thank you for your support with encouraging this independence. This is excellent preparation for Year 1.

The morning routine involves -

1. Bring in school bag, unpack & put bag in locker.

2. Put water bottles away.

3. Place readers into returns box and put reader folder into basket.

4. Put any finished library books into the library box & any lunch orders or office notes into plastic tubs.

5. Choose a Discovery Time activity.

We continue to encourage children to take responsibility for their own belongings at school. The lost property is located in the front office and is currently over flowing! PLEASE ensure all personal belongings - hats, clothes, lunch boxes, drink bottles and especially school jumpers/jackets are clearly labelled. These items can be quite expensive to replace!

Discovery Time is an integral part of our curriculum where students are accessing learning from every curriculum area as well as key social and developmental skills. These include turn taking, teamwork, positive communication, problem solving getting along and resilience to name few. It is a valued part of our day and it is important for each child to be a part of.

Goal Setting

During Term 1 we held Goal Setting conferences to support your child to identify areas of strength and also areas to focus on. You will also have noticed that your child and their teacher included an update on how they were progressing with their learning goals in the report comment, as well as outlined your child’s next steps. To continue this journey we invite you to please book in a learning goal conference during week 3 & 4. This is a time for students and families to reflect and celebrate the goals they have achieved, discuss ways in which they might achieve their goal, as well as chat about new learning goals.

Thank you to the families who have already booked in a time. Bookings can be accessed by the parent portal using the access code provided last week.
