Japanese calendar:
1st - 4th Beppu Hot Spring Festival is a festival that Japan celebrates to to appreciate the blessing of the rich hot spring of "Beppu eight hot springs."
1st-30th Cherry blossom celebrations (depending on location and weather)
French calendar:
The 1st of April is France’s April Fools’ Day, where French people, young and old alike, play practice jokes and hoaxes. It’s common for French students to stick a fish, le poisson d’avril, on a classmate’s back as a prank, and you can find many fish-shaped chocolates in France’s chocolatiers.
The 2nd of April is France’s International Cheese and Wine Fair in Coulommiers, where patrons can try and sample thousands of delicious cheeses before they buy.
The 8th to the 10th of April is France’s International Kite and Wind Festival, which takes places at Châtelaillon-Sur-Plage in Charentes-Maritimes. You can see hundreds and thousands of multi-coloured and differently shaped kites flying on the beach.
The 21st to the 23rd of April is the Paris Book Fair, which takes place in the Grad Palais. It’s a book worm’s paradise, with over 500 stalls, 2,000 authors and 1000 publishers frequenting the event every year.
The International Garden Festival at the Chaumont-sur-Loire Château is France’s answer to the Melbourne Flower and Garden Show, with stunning floral designs in the grounds of a historic French chateau.
Excursion
Year 9 and 10 students will be going to the Paris End of Melbourne, Collins Street, on Thursday 30th of March to experience French cultural influences in wonderful Melbourne.
Year 9 students will be visiting French haute couture labels like Channel, Louis Vuitton, Dior and so many more, to create a French fashion magazine.
Year 10 students will be conducting a French tour of the Paris End of Melbourne.
Year 9s and 10s will then convene at Laurent on Little Collins street to discover delicious French patisseries, including world-famous croissants and baguettes. Miam miam!
