Principal's message

Kylie O'Donnell

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to Week 8. We have had a busy couple of weeks with many exciting things happening since our last newsletter. Last week our Year 3 and 5 students participated in the 2023 online Naplan testing. I was so impressed with the effort and positive attitude of everyone involved. A special thanks to Ms Kelly, Mrs Giannikos, Mrs Bornewski for preparing the students and Ms Frost and Miss Courtenay for their organisation of the testing process.

First Reconciliation

Our Year 3 students have also been preparing for their first Reconciliation. They have been attending evening lessons with their parents at OLSH Randwick and participated in a retreat day here at school last Tuesday. We wish our Year 3 students all the best as they experience the forgiveness of our Lord through the sacrament of Reconciliation next Tuesday and Wednesday evening.

Enrolments for Kindergarten 2024

Last Tuesday and this Wednesday morning we showcased St Margaret Mary’s to prospective families looking to join our community in 2024. Our amazing Stage 3 leaders provided guided tours for the families visiting the school and the positive feedback on their confidence and pride in our school has been overwhelming. We have one final Open Day this Saturday 25 March and the teachers and I have big shoes to fill in selling the positive attributes of School.

Traditional Aboriginal Smoking Ceremony

As part of our second Open Day, STMM invited Uncle Russell from Koomurri Aboriginal Incursions to lead us in a traditional Aboriginal Smoking Ceremony. Uncle Russell is a well respected Elder among his people and as we participated in the ceremony he taught us about the significance of the smoke and how it connects his people in the same way the Holy Spirit works within us.

Roosters Win

I’ll sign off by sharing the best part of my week! Mr O’Donnell and I went to the Roosters v’s Rabbitohs game last Friday night and emerged victorious with a great win to the Roosters. Teddy is my all time favourite player and he had a great game.
