Kinder News

It has been a fun week of learning at Kinder, with our three-year-old classes enjoying moments of discovering healthy eating, and inquiring about fruit and vegetables through the identification of colour.

There have been some new skills developing within the children, with the foam bricks being turned into walls and structures. This exploration of resources has flowed into play with the open-ended resources that are on offer within the program. Areas such as playdoh, collage and the use of natural items in art have led to some incredible embedded play and co-operative learning moments.

Our four-year-old classes have been incredibly focused and curious, and this is only increasing each week.

With the storms and rain that have occurred, the children have been filled with questions and wonderings, these have been incredible moments of intentional learning around how the world works and in sharing knowledge between peers.

We have been unpacking the concept of Easter with the children, the discussions and artistic expression that has occurred has been such a valuable inclusion in the program.

We are egg-cited for the Easter hat parade next Thursday.

A big focus of our teaching of late has been around supporting the children with understanding others' perspectives, developing empathy and building skills around personal responsibility. We have used the concept of 'bucket filling' to achieve this. Bucket filling is a term that helps unpack how when we act with kindness towards others, we create lasting happiness and connection , when we act in ways that upset or hurt others, we 'dip' from their buckets.

Feel free to use these terms at home and extend this learning through the story on youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5R6-2m_qHk&t=5s

We are looking forward to a fantastic last week of Term 1,

The Kinder team.
