Independence Centre

Curriculum
This week was yet again a busy week in the Independence Centre!
By Lauren and Xavier
In writing this week we published our stories and made them into books. We had stories about teachers falling into holes, some about Australian survivors, Greek mythology, and about toast. This week we also did a cold write. It’s not the one where you are cold writing. It is the one where you have no help from the teachers but of course, your child's teachers will give them a topic. This week's topic was My Magical World. Lots of students did different things. This piece has been uploaded to seesaw.
In Reading we are learning to compare two different texts, like Wylah and the book “out”. We are also looking closer into narratives and the different features like characters and settings. The spelling rule we looked at this week was the “dge” vs “ge” and when we use each sound when reading and spelling.

In Maths this week, we have been learning all about symmetry. We have uploaded a portfolio to Seesaw named Lines of Symmetry so parents, make sure to check it out! Also, we did a challenge of thinking about who was correct about symmetry (if a shape that had more sides have more symmetrical lines.
Have a wonderful week,
Miss Wang, Miss Honan, Miss Chooi, Miss Walker, Miss Tillotson, and Mrs. Baker
