Year 2 & 4

We have been busy in the year 2/4 room this week. We have published our recounts of 'The Pied Piper' and these have been made into a class big book. Children are have moved on to writing a procedural text and a few of these can be read in this newsletter. Some time has been spent learning our Fry's Spelling Lists ready to finish the week with a 50 word test. Everyone did very well and will be ready for the  next 50 in the first week of April. Keep practicing at home everyone! The Fry's Spelling Lists are set in order of the most frequently used words. The target for students is to move up at least 2 lists for the year.

All students have been working on solving tricky addition and subtraction equations by using number lines to show their thinking. We have also learnt what a polygon is and that some 2D shapes can have different names.

In SOSE we are studying "People Power." We have looked at different volunteer organisations in the community and the important role they have and now understand that without volunteers our community would not function so well. Students in Year 4-6 then went back in Australian History to learn about how 'The Eureka Stockade' was a result of people power and standing up for your rights.
