Sports Update

An update from our Sports Coordinator, Mrs Barratt.

Dio Cross Country

27 students travelled to Barraba on Friday the 19th May to compete at the Diocesan Cross Country event.  After a cool start to the morning, we were blessed with beautiful weather which made for perfect running conditions for the students.

St Joseph’s continues to excel in this sport with 7 of our students qualifying to compete at the NSWCPS Polding Cross Country Selections in June. Thank you to our helpers; Mark Barratt and Greg Wright who volunteered their time to be at checkpoints on the day and Casey Chard who continued to help organise our students for their races.  Miss Katie McMeniman was our team manager and did a stellar job in making sure the day ran smoothly for our students.  We also appreciate our fabulous parents who transported their children to and from the event and also helped out on the day.

Congratulations to the following students who were placed in the top 6 and will compete at the NSWCPS Polding Cross Country Selections in Sydney on the 13th June: Charlotte Neville, Maggie Doust, Sophia Nugent, Peyton McBain, Rosemary Wright, Aila McBain and Fletcher Barratt. We wish you all the best!

Schools Cup - Netball

Many Stage 2 and 3 students are preparing for the Netball Schools Cup held in Inverell on Wednesday the 7th June. We will be taking 6 teams over with a mixture of boys and girls. Thank you to those parents who have offered to help on the day. We look forward to a great day of netball.

Sport - Netball

Thanks to the Sporting Schools Funding, we have netball expert Eli Cotter deliver netball skills sessions throughout this term.  Already, the students have learnt some valuable teamwork and ball skills. This is excellent timing for our NSW Netball Schools Cup in Inverell next week.

For your Diaries:

  • Wednesday 7th June - Netball Schools Cup - Inverell (Stage 2 and 3 students)
  • Tuesday June 13 - NSWCPS Cross Country - Sydney (selected students only)
