Greater Western Tennis Championships

Good luck to Jesse McCarthy and Jemma Howat who will represent the Colac Division at the Greater Western Tennis Championships on Friday 31st March at Hollioake Park in Ballarat. We wish them all the best.

 

Sacred Heart Athletics Carnival

A number of children from Years 4 – 6 have qualified to compete at the Colac Division Athletics Carnival this Thursday 30th March. This will take place at Colac Central Reserve. Children will need to wear their sports uniform and school hat, and bring along fruit, snacks, lunch and drink bottle. Children will travel by bus to this event. 

The bus will leave Sacred Heart at 8:55am and return at approximately 3:00pm. We do need parent helpers on the day. 

 

Please note: Students are reminded that the top two in each event qualify for the Colac Division Athletics, not the winner of individual races or classes.

 

Golf Coaching Lessons

This Friday 31st March the year 5 and 6 children will have their second golf lesson with golf pro Michael Bainbridge. Children CANNOT wear their sports uniform on this day because it is school photos. This will not affect their golf because they will be learning how to putt. 

Golf times: 

9:00am - Yr 5 JT

9:45am – Yr 6 KT

10:30am – Yr 6 TR

11:45am – Yr 5 JR

12:30pm – Yr 6 LG

 2:15pm – Yr 5 RO

 

 

Greater Western Regional Lawn Bowls Championships

On Wednesday 5th April, the two Sacred Heart lawn bowls teams will travel to Ararat to play in the Greater Western Regional Lawn Bowls Championships. Children will need to wear their sports uniform and school hat, and bring along fruit, snacks, lunch and drink bottle. Children will travel by bus to this event. Parents/grandparents are welcome to travel on the bus if they would like to support this event.  

A reminder to helpers, you must hold a current ‘Working With Children Check’ and the school office has sighted and entered your details.

 

Swimming Lessons

In Term 2 students in Years 1 – Years 4 will attend swimming lessons at Heather’s Swim School. Children will need to bring (or wear their bathers), a towel, goggles etc. Children may wear their sports uniform on their allocated swimming day. We do need parent helpers to assist with the walking of children to the pool. If you can help out, can you please indicate on the PAM permission form. 

A reminder to helpers, you must hold a current ‘Working With Children Check’ and the school office has sighted and entered your details.

(Permissions will be forwarded through PAM at a later date)

 

The swimming times for each class are as follows:

Tuesday -  Year 3 MR (11:30am – 12:00pm), Year 3KM (12:00pm – 12:30pm), Year 4DC (12:30pm – 1:00pm), Year 4RS (1:00pm – 1:30pm), Year 4SF (1:30pm – 2:00pm),                      Year 3AH (2:00pm – 2:30pm)                         

 

Wednesday Year 1LC (12:00pm – 12:30pm), Year 2RB (12:30pm – 1:00pm), Year 1MD (1:00pm – 1:30pm), Year 2FM (1:30pm – 2:00pm), Year 1MC(2:00pm- 2:30pm)                         

 

 

Sacred Heart Athletics Years F-2

On Thursday 6th April, children from Foundation – Year 2 will participate in the Sacred Heart Junior Athletics Carnival. This will take place at Sacred Heart between recess and lunch time (11:30am – 1:20pm). The children will be involved in a number of sporting activities e.g. High Jump, Egg and Spoon Race, Sprints etc. Parents/Grandparents are welcome to watch their child/children participate. Our year 6 students will be the leaders of the activities on the day.

Students will need to wear their sports uniform and bring along a drink bottle.

Name: Charli Doyle (Yr. 6KT)

1. Which sport is your favourite to play and why? Netball is my favourite sport because it is really fun and you can meet new people.

2. What is your best sporting moment? My favourite sporting moment was making the netball team at Irrewarra-Beeac.

3. Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a good athlete? My strengths that make me a good athlete is I show good sportsmanship and my leadership skills.

4. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it is fun and it is a way to make new friends.

5. Who is your favourite sports person? Liz Watson and Kate Moloney. Why are they your favourite? They are my favourite netballers because they are great mid-court players.

6. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sporting teams are the Melbourne Vizens and the Australian Diamonds.

 

 

Name: Buddy Gange (Yr. 6KT)

1. Which sport is your favourite to play and why? My favourite sport is basketball because you can shoot a lot of goals in a match.

2. What is your best sporting moment? My best sporting moment was when I shot a 3 pointer in basketball.

3. Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a good athlete? One of my strengths is that I do not cry when I get hurt playing sport. 

4. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it is fun and you get to play with your friends.

5. Who is your favourite sports person? Michael Jordan. Why are they your favourite? He is my favourite basketball player because he is good at dunking.

6. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite team is the Chicago Bulls basketball team.
