Learning Diversity

At Sacred Heart we seek to adhere to the rights of all students, to enable every student to flourish. We are committed to getting to know students’ strengths and differences to actively engage all students while recognising their cultural, academic, behavioural, social/ emotional, spiritual and physical attributes. We work together to understand all our students and identify children who may need more or different support.

World Autism Understanding Day

April 2nd marks the day to raise awareness for the unique strengths and challenges of individuals on the autism spectrum. Attached to the newsletter today is an 'Understanding Autism Fact Sheet' and some tips for interacting with children and adults on the Autism Spectrum. This information was sourced from the Autism Spectrum Australia website- https://www.autismspectrum.org.au/waud. At Sacred Heart, we use a variety of tools and strategies to effectively support children on the autism spectrum. I would like to share three helpful sources of information with our parent community. I hope that you find them useful.
