Principal's News

Dear Parents and Carers,

What a fortnight we have had! We have experienced wild winds, sensational storms and blessed rain. However, we will not stop praying for the wet weather to continue, hopefully, this is the start of a good season of rain.

Thank you to our school community for supporting our school FUNdraiser. It was an excellent night. It was wonderful to see families come together to share a meal and have fun. My highlight would have to be the water fight we had with the students, it was so much fun. Our school’s P&F did a wonderful job organising this event.

There were a number of major sponsors Auscott, C & W Financial Services, Cotton Seed Distributors, Namoi Cotton, Queensland Cotton, Rotary and many more. These companies donated to our evening which in turn enabled us to have a number of cheaper food and drink options. This ensured that people were able to have a fun night out, especially in our trying times of drought.

Next year our P & F are looking for a number of new members. As part of our constitution, there is a time limit on how long executive members can hold roles within the P & F, therefore I wish to extend a massive thank you for the efforts that Stacey Vogel (President) and Gail Knight (Treasurer) have put into their roles over the past three years. You have undoubtedly helped our school become a better place through your efforts in these roles.

If you would like to be part of our P & F as either an executive member or as a committee member, have a chat to any of the P&F team or come and see me in the office.

Next year we are investigating whether we can make some changes to our school starting and finishing times. Currently, due to our school buses, we are locked into a certain start and finish times.

If this was to be modified, we would then have the option of adding some extra play and eating time to the school day. Having enough time to play is important to all children. Coupled with this we will have a new Active Play area open in 2020. Currently, we are completing works to ready the old tennis courts to be turfed. The turf should be laid in the last week of school, or the week after school finishes. I am hoping that I can drum up a few volunteers to help lay the turf when it arrives. Let's watch this space!

Kindest regards,

Alistair Stewart
