From the Chair

Welcome to Issue 9 of

Tower Talk

The first half of the year has certainly been very different for us all. I do hope you and your families are coping with the changes to our daily lives and staying well. The 'new normal', whilst presenting restrictions which in many cases have caused difficulty and stress, has also presented some positive aspects for our way of living. Globally, people have been innovative in finding new ways to remain connected. People have used musical instruments, voices, dance and exercise from balconies and driveways to remain connected and to applaud essential workers on the front line.

Kilbreda reached out to others via technology during the school closure period. Some of you have seen 'The Hymn to Saint Brigid’, taken from the College’s first Remote Whole School Assembly.  ‘Rainbow’, was also performed by members of the VCE Music Class. Both are beautiful renditions.  I highly recommend you view these performances via our Past Pupils Facebook page.

We congratulate our past pupils who are working in essential areas, both in Australia and overseas and we thank them for their efforts on behalf of their communities. We have learned to value and thank health workers and all essential workers.

Education has been reimagined with teachers digitalising the classroom and offering online education. This presented challenges for many of you either as parents or teachers. We salute you all.

Unfortunately, the Past Pupils’ Network Committee has been unable to provide hospitality and host reunion groups so far this year. We are now planning four reunions later in the year and are working towards providing a safe environment that will work for these reunion groups. Details of reunions can be found on the reunion page of this Newsletter.

An important part of our role is to assist you to connect/reconnect with former students from your time at Kilbreda and with the Kilbreda community. We look forward to receiving your enquiries and assisting with your reunions.
