Assistant Principal Report

What a buzz to have all our students back at school! On Tuesday morning, Mrs Rouda and I welcomed the Year 3 - 6 students back and I can report that there were many smiling parents at drop off!! The hum and buzz in the Year 3 - 6 classrooms was electric, much like the first day of the year. They Year 3&4 rooms were filled with chatter and it was clear the students were thrilled to see their friends. The Year 5&6 rooms were very calm and students looked keen to get back to work.

Our time away from school and normal routine has given us time and cause to think about what we are grateful for about schooling in Victoria and our wonderful school, Great Ryrie.

I'm sure both students and parents will ride a roller coaster of emotions this week, but Iet us use 'Gratitude' as the platform to reflect on our days back at school or home without the kids.

'In positive psychology research, gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness. Gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships.'

When students jump in the car or perhaps over dinner, reflect as a family about the things you have appreciated in your day. Challenge each member of the family to come up with a person, place and thing that they are grateful for.
