Music Tuition – Return to Face-to-Face

What good news it is that Music Tuition will to return to face-to-face when the students return!

Parents, students and teachers are to be congratulated on the successful move to online teaching which was a steep learning curve for most. The feedback has been positive.

If a student needs to continue distance learning and continue with online Music Tuition, please let your teacher know. Your daughter’s lesson may need to be changed once we are back on site at school.

As we need to continue with social distancing, with the exception of Drums, Cello, and some Voice lessons, the teaching room will most likely change for your child. Your teacher will let you know once they know.

Primary Music Groups – The introduction of  FlipGrid

So that we adhere to social distancing protocols, I am looking at new ways that we can continue to have our lunch-time music groups. I wanted to float an idea with parents in regards to sharing music.

Minute Marvels is an open microphone, timed performance opportunity run on Tuesday at lunchtime. My idea is to use the FlipGrid video sharing app for Minute Marvels.  FlipGrid is a platform used by many teachers because the students do not need to have an account to have FlipGrid installed on their iPad. Students will receive an email from me with a log-in code, giving them access to my FlipGrid

It is easy to use: students can upload a video of their performance simply be clicking the green button with the white cross, record and stop.  It then automatically uploads to my Grid. I will moderate and release the videos to all the students who are included in that particular Grid. Parents will have access as well.

I am also looking into other apps such as Acapella with a consideration of safety in sharing to the outside world. FlipGrid ticks all the safety boxes there.

If you would like to provide input to this suggestion, please do not hesitate in emailing me.
