National Reconciliation Week

The theme this year for National Reconciliation Week is We are all in this together.

Aboriginal Australians use story to connect them with their families, with their communities, with the land and with the past.  Story is so important to them.

Next week, our Primary students will hear lots of Aboriginal stories and are encouraged to find out a family story of their own.

It could be any of the following:  an event that happened to you, a story told to you by your parents, grandparents or cousins. It could be about an animal, a celebration, a big move, something sad, scary, brave or joyful.

What is important is that the story is remembered in lots of details so that it can be retold to others. We are fortunate that stories can be presented in many different ways - as art, poetry, a cartoon, in a booklet or digitally.

Students work will be displayed in the O'Brien Resource Centre during National Reconciliation Week and on the College's Facebook page.
