English Language Centre Graduation

Imagine leaving your home, your family and your country, to travel 4,000km on your own to a country where you do not speak the language, to live with a family you have never met, and to attend a school you have never seen.  Then imagine doing that as a 14 years old, and, imagine doing it in a worldwide pandemic.

This is what our International Students in the English Language Centre have been through this semester.  Despite all this, they have made massive progress in the development of their English Language in the 20 week course we offer.  Today they graduated and next term they will be joining the mainstream course at their host school (Wantirna, Rowville, Scoresby and Fairhills).

In today's ceremony Mr Murphy spoke about the bonds that are formed between countries and between individuals through the international program and how each individual student made our school a better place.

Each student demonstrated excellent public speaking skills and a good command of the language.  They spoke about what their experiences have been like and the difficulties with isolation and remote learning.  Their teachers, Ms Song, Ms Li, Ms Hillebrand, Mr Stollery Jones and Ms Gallagher, are all immensely proud at how far they have come.

Congratulations to all.
