Online workshop: Restoring Resilience - working with teens for parents

Psychotherapist Phyllis Traficante, who ran the very popular workshop Tuning into Teens at Preshil earlier this year, is excited to be taking numbers for the upcoming ONLINE course commencing in July.

Phyllis works in private practice and at Camcare community agency and specialises in working with families and their teens, helping them to understand each other and deepen their connection.

The program provides an injection of support to families. It incorporates psychoeducation on developmental theory, age and stage appropriate markers for teen behaviour, the neuroscience behind difficult teen behaviours such as defiance, dismissiveness, isolation, rejection and criticism of parents. Participants will explore varying parental responses such as anger, sadness, grief, rejection and frustration. It is a group process that provides parents with support, validation of their experience and information that previous participants have attested as invaluable:

"I learnt that we are not alone with the challenges and struggles of raising teens; that I

have the ability to address issues with improved skills."

"Our teens seem to have modified their behaviours for a more peaceful household which is a result of our new knowledge and skills. Thank you for presenting this amazing course. It is one of the best things I’ve done."
