Principal's Report

Hello everyone,

Macklin Innis

 12th September 2005 - 4th November 2022

Richard and Monique have asked me to thank the extended McCarthy community for the love and support shown to them and to Gabby following the tragic passing of their dear son Macklin. They deeply appreciate the messages, visits and many stories from individuals whose lives were better because they knew Mack. They have a particular, deep regard for Macklin’s Year 12 friends and classmates, who were central to his life and who experienced the fullness of his character and friendship.

Thank you Richard and Monique for entrusting our school community with the education and care of Macklin and Gabrielle.

--------------------------------------------------

Thank you for your contribution to McCarthy Catholic College this year. I particularly thank those who assisted our goal of lifting learning culture by supporting the work of staff, supporting the learning and wellbeing of students, and generally being prepared to stand up and contribute positively to McCarthy Catholic College. A significant number of students took more care of others and paid more attention to their learning this year and schools improve when this happens. Thank you to the improvers.

Thank you to all students who contributed to building stronger class teams and a stronger school community. It is always the right time to give your best efforts for your own learning and for the learning of others, and it is always the right time to work to make more McCarthy people feel cared for, respected and valued.

I thank parents and carers for their support of the College, particularly if asked to work in partnership to improve a learning or wellbeing outcome. I thank staff for their committed contribution this year, wish well those who are leaving and wish a relaxing break to those returning to continue the work next year.

Teachers Raelene Maxworthy (on leave from McCarthy and working at NESA), Stephen Lawson, Roger Torrington and Kylie Mulholland have resigned and are continuing their work in other schools. Maeve Galvin, Phoebe Porter and Joshua Viertel have completed their gap year and are off to university (Maeve and Phoebe) and work (Joshua). Maddie Simmonds-Cutts is moving from Tamworth and working at Wee-Waa. Kara Spicer is working at O’Connor Catholic College for 12 months while Wayne Northey (12 months) and Katherine Harvey (6 months) are taking Long Service Leave. Liam Ball and Jules George are completing short term contracts at the end of the year. Thank you to each of these staff for their fine contribution to the College.

Six teaching staff and six support staff will join us in 2023. I will introduce them in the first newsletter next year.

Thank you and good luck to students who are leaving for other towns and schools. Please let me know if there are any late moves so that we can offer places to families that have inquired about enrolling in 2023. Years 7, 9 and 10 are currently full while there are several places available in Year 8. Year 11 and 12 enrolments depend on subject combinations and availability.

I hope the Christmas break is prayerful, enjoyable and fulfilling for each of you and I look forward to starting again next year.

And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

Thank you again for your contribution to McCarthy Catholic College in 2022. Congratulations, Merry Christmas and all the best.
