Year 5/6 Battleball Program

Over the past couple of months, our Year 5/6 students have been participating in an intra-school competition of the game Battleball. Battleball is loved by our students and is modified version of dodgeball. As part of the competition we ran at school, the aim was to determine which students would get to compete at the District Competition held at Boroondara Sports Complex on Friday 25th November. Congratulations to our girls 6PT/5NK team and boys 6JK/5NK team who progressed through. The results from the district day will be in the next school newsletter.

Year 5/6 PE - SEPEP

If your child is in Year 5 or 6, they might have come home talking about how they are taking part in SEPEP. SEPEP stands for Sport Education in Physical Education Program and is where the students are separated into teams and they amicably decide who within their team will be the coach, captain, publicity officer, event coordinator/team manager, timekeeper/scorer and referee. Over a four week period, we will be playing games of soccer/futsal where students are required to perform their role so the program can work successfully. If your child is in Year 5 or 6, make sure you ask them what their current role is and what their responsibilities are when performing this task.

This Week in PE......

A reminder to make sure that your child brings a drink bottle to each lesson.

Students will be focusing on the following topics over the next two sessions:

  • Foundation - Basketball Dribbling (Bouncing)
  • Year 1/2 - Forehand Striking
  • Year 3/4 - Target Games
  • Year 5/6 - SEPEP Soccer Unit

Don't forget that children aged between 5 and 12 years of age should be aiming for at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity each day.
