The Storyteller's Handbook

"...within the pages of The Storyteller's Handbook, whole worlds are waiting for you..."  

Each week, the Foundation students are lucky to have (in their words) "A very special visitor" in Ms Lowe who comes to spend some time writing with the children. This week, Ms Lowe shared the beautiful book 'The Storyteller's Handbook', illustrated by Elise Hurst. 

The Storyteller's Handbook contains no words, however each of its pages is rich with adventure and possibility, the beautiful illustrations an invitation for each child to create their own story. 

The Foundation students spent some time looking at the book and then exploring a particular illustration in detail, explaining what they noticed in the picture, wondering about what each of the characters might be thinking and doing, and using descriptive language to write about what they could see, or what they imagined might be happening.

Our Foundation students are wonderful writers, enjoy reading some of their ideas!
