Visual Art

What is happening in the Art Room....

I always look forward to sharing the wonderful work our students have created in Visual Art with you, but did you know that each artwork your child makes is uploaded into their Seesaw Visual Art portfolio? You can see and share the work, your child creates in Visual Art, with your family and you can leave a comment for them as well.

Foundation

Patterns are all around us in every day life and play an important role in Visual Arts as well. Foundation students have been exploring animal patterns in Art. Last week we read the book 'The mixed up chameleon' after which the students created their own mixed up animal. This week they delved into recognisable animal  patterns to colour animal masks.

Grade 1 and Grade 2

Students in Grades 1 and 2 have been exploring various ways to paint in order to create different effects. This week they experimented with Straw (blow) painting. Using straws and food colour dye, students created colourful shapes to which they will add details next week to turn them into 'germs'.

Grade 3 and Grade 4

The clay creatures created by the students were (finally) dry and ready to be painted.

Grade 5 and Grade 6

Students have completed their design/branding activity and attached their shoe design and the sweet/snack wrappers to their brick wall painting. Using only the colours (and shapes) of the brand was an exercise in branding and design and recognising how the art elements colour and shape are used to gain brand recognition and increased market share.
