5 weeks until Christmas!
The year has come and is close to gone. With 4 weeks to go of school we want to remind parents and students that if your child is absent to please follow up with their teacher to let them know where they have been.
Awards night is fast approaching. Those students whom have received an invite for completing a certificate or for winning an award are asked to please RSVP to Liam offer ASAP on 0429417024 so we can lock in catering. The awards night will be hosted at the Horsham College Hospitality building on Monday the 12th of December.
Individual groups will have information out shortly about end of year activities for each program. This will be an opportunity to celebrate all the good work that has been done this year and give the students a chance to enjoy the time with staff.
School holidays can be a stressful and lonely time for some experiencing challenge outside of school. If this applies to you can you please reach out to a staff member this week for support. Welfare staff will provide welfare packs to students that may need some support over the break. These will include important phone numbers for community services that families can contact if they need support.
Thanks

It is hard to believe we only have a few weeks left of the term! This week we were lucky enough to have Jason Revell come out to talk to us about fire safety. A particularly important topic with our setting at Mckenzie Creek – not that we can imagine scorching hot days currently! Thank you to those students who were our willing participants to dress up and get a good sense of what it feels like to be in full protective uniform. Hopefully a few of you may consider volunteering for the CFA one day...
This term McKenzie Creek students were also able to learn about the recent weather events with a trip to the Weir to observe the overflowing Wimmera River. As well as learning about our environment, students have also been working on building positive relationships with each other. Students have recently benefited from sessions on building positive relationships lead by our wellbeing team Hamish Roberts and Treena Hogan. We will continue to work on our skills and understanding in this area to ensure we all have a greater respect for everyone’s individuality. Thank you to Treena for organising these and Hamish for facilitating.
