What an amazing year we have had in the 2022 Sport Program at our school. Students have enjoyed participating and competing in their chosen sports throughout the year and have been fortunate with many victories – on and off the field. This year, there has been great uptake in all sports on offer with over 1200 participation occurrences throughout the year. We have had passionate athletes and players take part and students that wanted to try their hand at something new and enjoy playing in a team with their peers. Our sporting trips have seen us trek all over the countryside, heading to the towns of Warrnambool, Ararat, Stawell, Ballarat and beyond to Melbourne – all whilst navigating the constant changing nature of the COVID landscape and the unseasonal floodwaters.
Participating students throughout 2022 have left us feeling none other than proud with their attitudes, behavior and sportsmanship displaying our school values of care, character, commitment and collaboration. It has been wonderful to witness the enjoyment and participation of students this year. There is a true magic that unfolds when students come together through sport – a common ground for all and a unified sense of purpose resulting in forged bonds, comradery and friendships.
As Sports Coordinators, we have enjoyed cheering students on from the sidelines watching them thrive and grow. We have also witnessed many admirable leadership qualities in students that volunteered throughout the year to fulfil duties such as coaching, umpiring and acting in other official duties on our excursions. Thank you to the many Horsham College staff that attended excursions, coached, provided team selection and assisted with administration this year. Your efforts, involvement and support of the program have resulted in a very successful sporting year on all fronts. We look forward to a terrific 2023! - Jason & Ange
