Principal's Report
2022 School Year
With the end of the 2022 school year only four days away and the end of year activity program in full swing, the school is looking much quieter. Below the surface however there is plenty of action taking place organising the program and buildings for the start of the 2023 school year.
Yesterday, we experienced the wonderful sight of 160 Year 6 students attending for Orientation Day for their first full day of the Year 7 program. They were welcomed warmly by staff and listened attentively to messages about what they can expect as new Year 7 students and over the course of the day from the Principal and Year 7 Head of Year. After the morning assembly, our enthusiastic new students were led to their classrooms by their STARR teachers passing through our Values Totems, past their parents/carers who stood by and cheered, took photographs and celebrated their children’s’ transition to high school. A transition as big as this often causes a bit of nervousness to start with.

VCE Results
After weeks of patient waiting, our Year 12 VCE students received their results (ATAR) via text message Monday morning. The overall school results were very solid showing a high level of resilience and persistence from students during another challenging year. The school achieved a median study score of 27 which is comparable to results achieved over the past four years. Within this there were many strong individual results which the College is extremely proud of. The top VCE result was achieved by our 2022 College DUX, Shenali Ranjendran who scored an ATAR of 98.35. Congratulations Shenali!
Farewell
This is the very last From the Principal I will be writing for the Melton Mail as next year I will be taking up the role of Principal in Residence at the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership in 2023.
It has been an enormous honour and pleasure to have led the school over the past twelve years. Significant changes have occurred over this time. Student enrolments have doubled. Facilities have expanded and provide a high-quality learning environment for students. Teaching practices, curriculum and programs are providing strong support for student learning and wellbeing. There is a culture of learning and achievement which is reflected again and again in student results.
New Principal of Melton Secondary College
It is with great pleasure that I announce to our community that Ms Kathryn Sobey has been appointed as the next Principal of Melton Secondary College. Kathryn has done an outstanding job serving the Melton SC community as our Junior Sub-School Principal for the past four years. She has a deep understanding of the learning and wellbeing needs of young people and of the College community as does the outstanding team of professionals who make up our staff.
I am thrilled to be leaving the College in such capable hands and excited to know that Melton Secondary College will continue providing an outstanding education for its community.
