Celebration Day

Year 12 students in VCAL and VCE commemorated their final day at school at their Celebration Day on October 18th with a ‘childhood show’ dress-up theme. The students were treated to a fun-filled day including a barbeque breakfast, trivia, reflective presentations, various awards, and an ice cream truck visit. We’re incredibly proud of our graduating students and look forward to celebrating with them at Valedictory on Friday, November 18th.

Staff vs Student Dodgeball

One of the highlights of Celebration Day was the deciding event of the Staff vs Student Cup. Scores were tied heading into the final event with a win guaranteeing the title. The students had the numerical advantage on the court but the staff experience ensured a closely fought match. The students overcame the staff through their determination and will to get the chocolates and be crowned 2022 Staff vs Student Cup champions.

Exams

Well done to all of our students completing exams across the VCE program. The exam supervisors have been more impressed than ever with the conduct and maturity of our students. It can be a very stressful experience for all involved but the students have assisted in ensuring that the exam period has run as smoothly as possible.

Post School Celebrations

With the end of the academic year fast approaching, schoolies celebrations from Saturday 26 November to Sunday 4 December can be an exciting milestone in student's lives. However, this shouldn’t mean impacting your child’s health and safety, or causing problems for the communities where they decide to celebrate.

Although schoolies celebrations are not endorsed by the College or the DET, we understand that these celebrations are often inevitable, thus we are endeavouring to ensure that if students choose to participate that it is done as safely as possible.

We encourage you to speak to your child about the importance of keeping safe and healthy at schoolies. Information about staying safe at schoolies can be found at Partying safely at schoolies — Better Health Channel.

You can also follow the Good Times Great Breaks Victoria Facebook page, which provides information on what wellbeing support is available in the main schoolies destinations of Rye, Surf Coast, Lorne, Torquay and Phillip Island.

Please do not hesitate to contact me here at the College if you wish to discuss anything further.

Congratulations once again on your student's completion of Year 12!  The whole McClelland community acknowledges and applauds their efforts!
