Sailing

Expression of Interest 2023

It is proposed to introduce a PMSA Sailing Program to commence from Term 1 2023.

  • Brisbane Boys' College
  • Clayfield College
  • Somerville House

The PMSA Sailing Program will align with the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron and operate out of their premises in Manly. The program will encompass a RQYS:

  • Tackers program for Years 5 and 6;
  • Learn to Sail / Development Squad for students new to sailing in Years 7 to 12; and
  • Racing Squad for experienced sailors in Years 7 to 12.

PMSA Sailors will train as a single team, with students from all schools sharing the available resources.  Depending on numbers within each school, sailors would compete in the Queensland Schools Racing Program representing their own schools. If there are insufficient numbers for a team from a single school, these sailors can join sailors from other schools and represent PMSA Sailing. The Queensland Schools sailing season is a Term 4 and Term 1 activity, with the Queensland State Titles being held in Term 1 annually.

PMSA Sailing would be self-sufficient and would be funded through a combination of contributions from sailing students, fundraising from the parent support group and external sponsorship.

The target participation number in 2023 is 30 students and it is proposed that each student will contribute $500.00 per Term.

Students in Years 5 to 12 (2023) are invited to register an Expression of Interest via the link enclosed below to join the PMSA Sailing Program in Term 1 2023.

EOI closes Sunday 4 December 2023

Please note: Training and Racing will take place weekly on Sunday's throughout Term 1 2023 at Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron, Manly.
