Term 2 Sport and Finals

Well done to the hundreds of students who represented Team sVc in the sporting domain during this term.  With most sports being finalised, there have been some amazing results and achievements across the board. A big thank you to our amazing staff and coaches who dedicate their time to assist our boys.

Congratulations to the Year 7-8 Blue Football team for finishing runner up to a powerful MacKillop College team in the final of the Term 2 SSATIS AFL roster. Overall, a fantastic season for the team and coached well by Oliver Wilson-Haffenden and Bridget Jenkins.  The boys should be very proud of their achievement.

Good luck to our Year 7-8 Water Polo team who finished on top of the ladder for the regular season. Team sVc will take on MacKillop College this Friday night in the semi-final to earn a spot in next week's grand final.

Term 3 Sport

Term 3 Sport registrations are now closed, and what an amazing response from our sport's mad cohort.

Team sVc will field 13 teams across sports such as Soccer, AFL, Volleyball, Hockey, Rugby and Canoe Polo.  Further information about each sport, including team lists and rosters will be sent out as soon as they are available, so please keep an eye out for EdSmart emails and Student Messages.

Year 9-10 Football Trials

Due to changes in the format of the Year 9-10 SSATIS AFL roster, including moving to Term 3, the College will now only be having one team participate in the competition.  This makes it an even six team competition, with one team each from St Virgil's, Hutchins, MacKillop, Friends', Sacred Heart and St Aloysius. The roster will commence in Week 2 and all matches will be played on Wednesday afternoons/evenings at Geilston Bay Oval #1.

All students that have registered for Year 9-10 AFL in Term 3 are invited attend a selection trial on the Main Oval on Wednesday 26 July from 3.30 pm - 4.30 pm.  Students should be in full sVc football uniform and be prepared to play an intra-school practice match.  From the trials, a squad will be selected to participate in the 9/10 roster and the Alex Gadomski Cup later in the term.  The winner of the SSATIS 9-10 roster will play off against the best DOE teams in the Southern Hawks Cup, with the winner of this qualifying to play in the Tassie Hawks Cup.

Term 3 Swimming Trials

Just a friendly reminder that registrations close next Thursday for students wishing to trial to be part of the sVc Swim Team for 2023.

The trials are for highly capable swimmers and are run in conjunction with Mount Carmel College, St Mary's College and Guilford Young College.

The trials will take place at the Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre on Monday 31 July (Week 2 of Term 3), starting at 8.30 am and concluding by 10.30 am. Students are to make their own way to the pool and arrive by 8.00 am. The College will bus the students to Austins Ferry at the conclusion of the trials and have them ready to commence Period 3. Following the trials, the sVc Swim Team will be selected to participate in the SSATIS Swimming Carnival on Friday 1 September (Week 6) and the SATIS Swimming Carnival on Wednesday 13 September, both at the DKHAC.

Please note, the selection trials provide a guide only for the final selection of the team. Past performances, commitment to College sport and fulfillment of student academic and behavioural expectations will also be taken into account. Representing the College is a privilege and ongoing participation in Co-Curricular activities is subject to advice from Heads of House and College Leadership.

To assist with team selections, students must swim in the appropriate SSATIS year of birth age groups as per below:

  • Year 7 - U13 - year of birth 2010
  • Year 8 - U14 - year of birth 2009
  • Year 9 - U15 - year of birth 2008
  • Year 10 - U16 - year of birth 2007
  • Year 11 - Open - year of birth 2006
