Virgilian Exemplars

Last week Mr Franzin and I formally acknowledged those young men who had been selected as Virgilian Exemplars. Our message was to focus on their intent within the classroom which has always been to do their best, to push themselves and to seek help where needed. It is a mindset which impacts the attitude in which they bring into each class - a positive attitude which is clear to see from a teacher’s perspective. No matter what the Period and what the subject, these young men consistently demonstrate a willingness to have a go and do their best. With this attitude and approach results and success will naturally follow.

During our chat I showed the boys a clip Coach Prime a University NFL coach and past NFL and MLB player. Coach Prime’s message to his players was simple, asking them what their purpose was for training. As he believed that players now days train to simply get through and get it over with. Coach Prime was aiming to motivate his players to train to improve. As he stated that when he trained, he had the purpose and intention of being the best. The same can be said for our lessons, we should have the intention and mindset to improve, to push ourselves and to unpack the areas we are unsure of in each and every lesson. Instead of surviving and just getting through to the next one.

I again commend these young men who were certainly hungry for pizza last Thursday afternoon.
