Principals Report

- Sarah Rose, Principal

A short edition this week to round out the semester.  It has been a wonderful first half of the school year seeing students settle into routines and engage with their learning.

We now move to the pointy end of the year for our senior students with our Year 12s having just one term left of classes before embarking on their final secondary school exams.  Our Year 11 students and those Year 10s studying an accelerated subject, have already commenced their Unit 2 studies, and our Semester 2 timetable for the whole school is currently being finalised and will be published over the semester break.

Our transition process for students moving from primary to secondary school has continued with students from the primary schools in our catchment area having visits to GSC throughout this week, experiencing the varied subjects the school has to offer.

Last week our temporary portables were delivered and are presently being installed and fitted out ready for use from the start of Term 3.  I'm also pleased to announce that Monaco Hickey have been appointed as the builders that will take on our Capital Works Program.  Meetings with the new building team have commenced and we look forward to works commencing again soon.

Today, semester reports are made available to families.  These are a follow on from the feedback provided at Parent/Teacher Interviews at the end of Term 1 and I encourage you to access these at your earliest convenience.

Finally, I'd like to make you aware of a few staffing changes that will take effect next term. Firstly, Laura O'Meara who holds a shared role of Yr 11 Coordinator will be on leave for the semester.  Paul James will be taking on Laura's share of Year Level Coordination.  There will also be some changes in our Wellbeing team with Belinda O'Meara on leave.  The team of Greg, Bridget and Kirsty will share the load ensuring our Wellbeing team continues to provide a high-level of service and support to our school community.  We also look forward to welcoming a new member to our teaching staff, Caitlyn Bourke, who will be joining our Science Faculty, and we welcome back Stacey Holmes to our Education Support team who will be taking on the role of Attendance Officer for the College after a period of parental leave.

I wish everyone a restful and enjoyable break and look forward to seeing everyone return on Monday 10th July for another positive term of learning.
