Year 2 Team

Year 2 Superstars!

What an amazing first semester we have had! It has been truly wonderful to see how much progress all of the students have been making and how much effort they’ve all been putting into their work. It was great to see all of our students showcasing our school values on their excursion to McCrae Homestead. We all had a fantastic time learning about life in the past.

In Literacy, we have been exploring poetry through Reading and Writing, allowing students to develop their creativity, language skills, and understanding of emotions. Students have been practising writing all sorts of poems such as; acrostic, similes, senses, shape and alliteration. Students also planned, wrote and edited narratives, which included characters, setting, a problem and a solution.

In Maths this term, we have explored addition and subtraction, number patterns, 2D shape and length and area. The Year Twos’ thoroughly enjoyed our addition and subtraction unit in which they were able to investigate the relationship between addition and subtraction through looking at fact families. Students have also had lots of hands-on experiences to measure and compare the length and area of different objects and shapes. They were able to measure the length of different objects using uniform informal units of measurement, such as; unifix, playing cards and shapes. We even explored measurements of our play areas and how far we could jump.

We are so proud of you all and can’t wait to see what next semester brings!
