EISM Swimming Carnival

There were great performances by our swimmers at this year’s EISM Division 2 Swimming with Une Geisler (11.13) breaking another record in the Open Boys 50m Breaststroke with a time of 31.26 seconds. Oxley finished overall in second place this year. Our students’ strong performances in the individual events let us take the lead early in the day after we competed in the very competitive medley relays.

Oxley held on to this lead and even extended the lead until the freestyle relays at the end. Due to illness, some of our better swimmers couldn’t make it to the carnival and we had students in younger year levels competing in older year levels in the relays. Taking this into consideration, they made an amazing effort to finish overall second. Our boys finished overall in third place and our girls in fourth. Our U/14 boys won their age group, and our Open Girls won their age group.

We saw some strong performances from Dakoda Mathers (12.7), Une Geisler (11.13), Ruan Rademeyer (11.14), Sanaa Geisler (8.6), Lucy Weighell (9.9), Tom Weighell (8.8) and Henry Zhou (9.12) who all performed very well in their individual events.

Despite the strong competition in the relays, five of our relay teams have been invited to take part in the EISM Championships!

Below is a table of our performance at the EISM Division 2 Swimming that took place on Monday 20 March at Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre (MSAC).

Another Record at EISM Swimming Championships

We saw another great performance by Une Geisler at the EISM Swimming Championships at MSAC on Monday 27 March, when he broke his own Open 50m Breaststroke record from 31.26 seconds to 30.79 seconds. Both our Swimming captains for 2023, Une and Dakoda Mathers, performed very well at the Championships.

Une also won the Open Boys 50m Backstroke, while Dakoda won the Girls Open 50m Freestyle, the Girls Open 50m Backstroke and the Girls Open 50m Butterfly. Ruan Rademeyer won silver in the Boys Open 50m Freestyle and Sanaa Geisler won bronze in the Boys U/14 50m Backstroke and Boys U/14 Butterfly.

Our winning Open Boys Medley Relay team was one of the highlights of the day. Congratulations to Une, Ruan, Josh Deakin and Josh Tan!

Congratulations to all our swimmers who participated in the Championships. Lucy Weighell had a great day at the Championships, coming fourth in most of her events, just short of winning a medal.
