Mission Action Day

The Year 12 led Mission Action Day was a wonderful success from both community building and fund-raising perspective. With remaining donations coming in this week and some belated donations the total is in excess of $50,000. Thank you once again for your support of the College but in this case the broader mission of the Oblates with their work in China and Southeast Asia. The behaviour and enthusiasm of the students in Year 12 as well as other year levels was outstanding.

ACC Swimming

At the end of Term 1, our swimming team competed in the ACC Swimming Championship at the Melbourne Aquatic Centre. Our squad put in many hours in preparing for the competition. We had many outstanding individual results which led to us being the overall winners in Division 2. We would like to acknowledge all students, particularly Year 12 students, for years of dedication to the sport and thank them for their leadership.

Advisory Council Vacancy

Expressions of interest are invited from the College community for a voluntary role on the Mazenod College Advisory Council. We are looking for someone who has a background in marketing, development, and communications. If you wish to express an interest, please advise Kate Oberg (Executive Assistant to Principal) via email: koberg@mazenod.vic.edu.au by 4.00 pm on Friday 12th May.

ANZAC Day

It is customary at the College to conduct an ANZAC Day service that enables students and staff to reflect on the sacrifices and hardships of so many who served during times of conflict and unrest, particularly those who served during the First World War and at Gallipoli. The Last Post, The Minute of Silence, Reverie, and the Ode form a ritual that is moving and prayerful.

Visible Wellbeing

All College staff were to participate in professional learning on the Visible Wellbeing Program on Monday 24th April. There was a late change of plans whereby staff met in faculty groups to plan the curriculum for Term 2. The Visible Wellbeing program was introduced in 2020 and the common language of character strengths is becoming more obvious each week. Our attention to formalising Positive Psychology is both fortuitous and insightful and is hopefully equipping our young men with knowledge and skills as they develop their resilience and emotional intelligence. The program is designed for students, staff, and parents. Corporations and Sporting organizations are realising the benefits of Positive Psychology and Visible Wellbeing. Please access the resources on MAZCOM under the Visible Wellbeing tile.  www.leawaters.com and www.viacharacter.org

All the best,
