School Spotlight

Last Thursday we had Hector the Cat visit us to talk about road safety. Hector and Charlee reminded us about road, bike, and seat belt safety. We even learnt a song to remind us about putting our seat belts on.

Here is what some Foundation students had to say:

I loved seeing the cat.

Brooklyn

I liked doing the actions.

Ivy

Hector showed us how to put our seat belts on.

James

When we put our helmet on, we make sure it clicks.

Demi

I remember we need to stop before we cross the road.

Zeke

On Wednesday the Village hosted a bake sale to raise money for the Alice Springs Animal Shelter. In Christian Studies, the whole village have been learning about ways we look after the earth and those in it. We also adopted our much-loved rabbit, Peter from the Alice Springs Animal Shelter. Bringing together both those things we decided to hold a bake sale fundraising for the shelter to thank them for giving us Peter and to understand ways that we can help the wider community around us. Thanks to the amazing supportive community around the village, we managed to raise $600.65 to give to the animal shelter. A huge thank you to all those who helped us by donating food, time or anything else. Peter and all the animals at the shelter greatly appreciate it!

Our Book Fair competition winners are pictured with their prizes. Thank you to our families who purchased over $2700 worth of books from the Larrikin House Book Fair. Our library has received $1000 worth of books to add to their resources.

Recently our LWLS Junior Choir performed at the Old Timer’s Nursing Home. We took 25 students on the school bus to the nursing home to perform three songs. All students really enjoyed the outing, and it was great to see the residents singing and clapping along to the song ‘I am Australian’ at the end. The choir will be performing at end of term during the year, which is great. Well done everyone!

Congratulations to Florence Bettineschi and Bree Spears for who have been selected in the Under 12 Central Region NT Netball Team.

Students love the library and have been especially loving playing chess while there.

On Tuesday our Foundation to Year 3 students participated in an Easter Bonnet Parade and Easter activities. Thanks to Taylor, Oakley, Asha, Jaydon, Christian, Jazlyn, Kenaisha and Rachel for their help with the activities.
