Competing in the 50x4 freestyle relay our team of Austine W, Mabel L, Cheng-yun H and Chelsea Z have won silver medal at the Sports School Victoria Eastern Region Championship last week. The girls posted a PB 11 seconds faster than their previous best and beat schools which were faster at Divisional meet. What an incredible effort and a deserved result. The girls showcased Huntingtower’s spirit and values.
The Reverent John Leaver Award was awarded to a 2022 Year 11 student who demonstrates compassion, resilience, ability to connect with others and broadmindedness.
Now in Year 12 recipient, Hugh R, attended the award celebration last week along with recipients students from other Victorian schools. As part of the ceremony students heard guest speakers who had experienced marginalisation, homelessness and disadvantage. The students then had the time to workshop issues raised with their peers and ask questions of the guests. Congratulations and well done Hugh on making the most of this opportunity.
After last year being named by the The Age Newspaper the Winner of Schools that Excel Award for Melbourne's Eastern Suburbs, the Herald Sun revealed yesterday the top value for money schools in Victoria, naming Huntingtower in the top few along with Ballarat Clarendon Grammar, St Catherines, Haileybury Girls, Bialik and MacRobertson Girls. The recognition is based on results, facilities, values, cost and alumni success.
