From the Principal

What a term!

Thought of the week:

“I dwell in possibility.”

Emily Dickson

It is hard to believe that Term 1 will conclude this week. It has been an actioned packed term with a multitude of opportunities being offered to all students. I love these words from Emily Dickson who encourages us to live in a world of endless possibilities. An education at Huntingtower is a journey of self-discovery, “Nosce te Ipsum”, and when we dwell in possibility, there are no limits to what we can do.

Farewell Helen Aden

After 12 years leading HSAC and building a well-respected and successful Swim School, Helen Aden has retired from Huntingtower. Helen has created a swimming culture that is unrivalled. Her commitment to ensure no student leaves Huntingtower without the lifesaving gift of being able to swim is commendable. While Helen’s focus has been on full participation and safety, Helen has also developed a culture of excellence with Huntingtower performing exceptionally well in swimming competitions across all year levels for least decade or more.

The Learn to Swim School provides the community with a valuable resource and is a thriving centre.  Helen has brought her passion for swimming to Huntingtower and has enriched the lives of many.

On behalf of the community, I thank Helen for her devotion and love given to the Huntingtower community and I look forward to Helen joining us for a farewell when she returns from time overseas with her family.

House Athletics

On Tuesday, we enjoyed the Secondary School House Athletics. It was a tremendous day of House spirit, healthy competition, and individual success.  We acknowledge the Sport department, coaches, Heads of House and volunteers who helped prepare all students to be ready for the day.  Huntingtower is renowned for a culture of participation and to see the House Captains encouraging and supporting all students, regardless of which House they were in, is a testament to the inclusive culture of kindness, respect and excellence we enjoy at Huntingtower.

Junior School

Our Junior School students have certainly been very active this Term with Early Risers, swimming in the District, Regional and Divisional Carnivals, participating in a wonderful House Athletics Carnival and to top off an amazing Term, coming first in their division in the SDSSA interschool carnival last week. We also congratulate our freestyle relay team (Austine, Mabel, Cheng-Yun and Chelsea) who won a silver medal at the SSV Eastern Region Swimming Championship on Friday 24 March.

Thank you to all our Parents for your continued support of our wonderful School. We are truly blessed to have such a caring and supportive community.

Wishing all families a safe and joyous Easter and a restful and fun-filled break, and we look forward to seeing you back for an exciting Term 2 on Wednesday, 26 April.
