Learning and Teaching in 1/2RG

School in the Past Day

On Monday 1st of May, our Year 1/2 students had a special opportunity to step back in time and experience school life as it was in the early 1900s. The students dressed up in old-fashioned clothes and participated in a range of traditional games and activities.

The students had the chance to play classic games such as marbles, jacks, hopscotch, elastics, coits, skipping, tic tac toe, and pick-up sticks.

They also danced and played circle games like Duck Duck Goose and Drop the Hanky. It was wonderful to see the students having so much fun and learning about the games and activities that were popular in the past.

As well as playing games, the students had a chance to experience the daily routines of a school from that time. They had an assembly where they listened to ‘God Save the King’ and had their nails inspected and posture corrected. Additionally, they tried writing and drawing pictures with a quill.

We would like to thank the parents who assisted and participated in the games in the afternoon.  Your support helped to make the day a great success and we appreciate your involvement in our school community.

Overall, the day was a fantastic way for our Year 1/2 students to learn about the past and understand what school life was like in a different era. We hope that they will carry these memories with them and appreciate school life as it is today!
