Principal's Page

Dear Families,

I hope that you all had a wonderful holiday.  We have lots of exciting learning opportunities and community events planned for this term.  It was wonderfull to see St Joseph's school community so well represented at the ANZAC Day ceremonies yesterday. The school gathered this morning to remember, show respect and honour those who died  and served in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations. ANZAC Day is an important day in our country's history.

Sorrento's Writer's Festival

We are very fortunate to be a part of this wonderful local event. Students will have the opportunity to listen to several children's authors tomorrow and Friday. The authors who will presenting to students are: Sally Rippin, Megan Hess, Jess Racklyeft, Jane Godwin, Andrea Rowe, Amelia Mellor, Sophie Laguna, Andrew McDonald & Ben Wood, Tai Snaith, Joan-Maree Hargreaves & Marita Burrowes and Zeno Sworder. Sincere thanks to Corrie Perkins, the festival's director for including St Joseph's in this amazing event.

For those of you that have reluctant readers,  'Wild Things,'  is a wonderful and deeply personal book for parents about how we learn to read and what can happen if we don’t. Through meticulous research, interviews and conversations, Sally shares her brilliant and eye-opening insights into how we can help all children find the joy in reading and advocate for them if they are struggling.

School Photos

Our school photos will be taken next Monday 1 May. Students are asked to wear theirwinterschool uniform please. Envelopes were sent home last term for those wishing to order and pay cash. For those paying and ordering online, please do not return the envelope to school but rather follow the instructions on the attached flyer.

Lionel's Visit

Lionel, from Living Culture, will be leading a Cleansing Ceremony in the new FIRE Carrier Garden and reciting an Acknowledgement of Country next Monday afternoon at 2:30pm. Parents are most welcome to join us.

Mother's Day Breakfast

Rather than asking mums to organise their own morning tea this year, we are looking for some dad's to assist us with a special breakfast. Dads, please contact me if you have any spare time on the morning of Friday 12 May. Mums please keep the morning free!

Grandparents/Special Friend Day

We learn so much from our grandparents and special friends. We invite them to St Joseph's on Wednesday 24 May between 9 - 11. We will begin with celebrating mass together before an activity in the learning spaces and morning tea. Invitations will be sent home shortly.

Whole School Cross Country

The whole School Cross Country event will take place next Friday afternoon 5 May at Sorrento Oval. An Operoo was sent out with more details.

2024 Prep Enrolments are now open

We have had lots of enquiries and enrolments from new families so far this year. If you know someone who is keen to enrol their child for next year, please encourage them to contact the office to book in for a tour and collect an enrolment pack.

School Uniform

Students are to wear their winter school uniform this term. If the weather is unusually warm, as it has been recently, students may wear their summer uniform but please not a combination of both. The winter school uniform is:

School jumper

Black school shoes

Blue long sleeved shirt

Winter tunic

Navy pleated pants

Navy tights or socks

Beleza has a 20% off sale on St Joseph's spray jackets until 12 May.

Welcome Fr Angelo

A warm welcome to Fr Angelo, who will be assisting Fr John in the parish for the next twelve months.

Enjoy your week,

Monica
